Hotel de Havelet Accessibility Statement

This hotel accessibility statement provides helpful information of Hotel de Havelet Guernsey's facilities and services, specifically in relation to accessibility to people with access needs.

As a converted Georgian House with extensions over the decades, Hotel de Havelet may have some limitations for guests with limited mobility, however, our staff and management team will all do their best to ensure guests' needs are met resulting in an enjoyable stay.

Pre Arrival

Reservations can be made by telephone (01481 722199), email:  stay@dehaveletguernsey.com or online but the first two are preferable if there are special requirements. Please ensure you explain your mobility issues in order that we can ensure we allocate a suitable room, and we can advise you of any possible difficulties.

Arrival

Taxis can be pre-ordered to meet guests at both the airport and ferry terminal.

Hotel de Havelet is located on a steep hill on the outskirts of St Peter Port. If you have your own car, or hire one then parking is available on site, with two dedicated disabled parking spaces close to the hotel Reception. Our staff will be happy to bring luggage in from your car.

The entrance to Reception has one small step. There are double doors which open inwards with a width of 140cm.

The Reception desk is 108cm high and does not have a lowered section. There is no hearing loop installed. There is coconut matting and carpet as flooring, and seating is available in the Reception lobby.

Toilets are located close to Reception. Outer doors open inwards, the Gents door is 75cm wide, and the Ladies door is 70cm wide. Gents Cubicle door opens outwards with a width of 70 cm, the Ladies cubicles open inwards, and are 64 cm wide.

Hotel Bedrooms

There is one bedroom on the ground floor with no steps involved. The corridor to this room is 82 cm wide and the doorway opening inwards is 79 cm wide. This room also has a shower cubicle with one step in as well as a bath.

There are 8 Superior rooms on ground floor level around the courtyard, however there is one step involved. 4 of these rooms have wet rooms. Door widths into these bedrooms is 75cm, doors opening inwards and bathroom door widths are 72cm Doors opening outwards.

There are another 3 rooms and a Junior Suite on Ground floor in the main house, however access is via the Lounge and 2 steps up.

Other rooms are located on the lower ground, first or second floors via a carpeted staircase with handrail. There is no lift.

TV's in all hotel rooms have subtitles. Rooms also have small refrigerators. Assistance dogs are very welcome.

Room Service is available for breakfast and dinner.

Public Areas

The Lounge and Drawing room are accessed from Reception by two steps. They are carpeted and the doorways are 90cm wide.

The front terrace can be accessed and is paved. Table height is 77cm. Coffee, lunches and drinks can be enjoyed here.

The Health Suite

The indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are located via the lower ground floor ? access is via a staircase with 15 stairs and a second smaller set of stairs into the pool room. The doors into the pool area are heavy and open inwards. The area around the pool is tiled. Changing rooms are located up a narrow staircase. There are toilets and showers in each changing room.

Restaurants

The Wellington Boot and Copenhagen Bar and Grill are both located in a separate building, formerly the Coach house.

Generally, Breakfast and dinner for guests is served in the Wellington Boot Restaurant. Access is via the main entrance to this building with one step at the threshold, and an open spiral staircase with handrail.

The restaurant is carpeted and well lit. The closest table is 5 metres from the top of the stairs. None of the tables or chairs are fixed. Some chairs have arm rests. The table height is 80cm. There is full table service.

Toilets are located on the lower floor via the spiral staircase and a second set of stairs.

Copenhagen Bar and Grill opens for lunch, coffee, afternoon tea, drinks and dinner, and breakfast can be served here too. This is accessible via a ramp from the terrace entrance. The door width is 110 cm and opens outwards. The flooring is a mixture of tiles and wood. Standard table height is 76cm, high tables 108 cm and the furniture is not fixed. Full table service is offered.

Toilets including an accessible WC are located via a corridor width 80 cm. The door width for the accessible WC is 88cm and the door opens outwards.
